Dresses And Matching Jewelry

Diana Bobar

Besides all the work with the pattern cutting and sewing, fittings, clients and the new collection, it is so much fun to do a styling post about how I’d style and wear a few of the dresses that I recently made with different pieces of jewelry. I was looking around online and checked out ShopNBC. They had a wide range of great pieces of jewelry that I liked. I mostly loved their statement rings and necklaces, but I also ended up choosing a great watch to go with a black dress. It was so much fun to pick my favorites, style the dresses and imagine the outfits as a whole.

The playful look

The first dress that I chose is a dark grey beige silk pleated bustier dress that I made a couple of weeks ago. For the styling of this dress I would go all out with statement pieces, such as the ‘bug’ necklace or a ‘spider’ ring. The playfulness of the pieces of jewelry adds just the right amount of ‘fun’ to an otherwise basic grey silk dress. Also I love the pops of bold color such as the spider’s turquoise.

The golden powder look

The second dress that I chose to style is this little beige silk chiffon one shoulder draped number with a separate waistband. Because of the nude-beige-neutral color we can actually choose either something colorful, or we can remain in the same color range and go for something golden and/or blush pink like the pretty flower ring above. Right now I am obsessed with gold jewelry and oversize golden chains, so it’s no wonder I liked all the pieces pictured above.

The black & white print look

I love a great and interesting print, so it’s no wonder that I chose this silk printed cowl neck dress with a black waistband. I would wear this dress with an equally busy necklace like the grey and beige one above that would just add amazing detailing at the neckline. Also, statement rings are an amazing addition for a perfectly bold look. PS: Red lips always go well with a black & white print.

The little black dress look

I just had to choose this ‘little black dress’ that I made recently. Made out of shantung/silk, it has shoulder pads with attached embroidery – a detail that would go amazingly well with black fresh water pearls. To finish the look of I would choose a bold, big degrade ring for a feminine look, or an oversize metallic silver watch for a more masculine take on the little black dress.

Hopefully I will get to do a lot more ‘virtual styling’ in the future. Do let me know which pieces you like most and how you would wear them. I am actually interested to hear other opinions and/or preferences?! Maybe you find an amazing item that you like and I missed adding. Have fun browsing and shopping!
